The Solitary Men
The Solitary Men are either a three piece acoustic trio playing easy listening, Sunday arvo beer garden sets; but we prefer to play as a five piece band, with the emphasis on classic pub rock covers.
The full band is comprised of Kent Bauer on bass, Mark McLean on drums and backing vocals, Gary Bruce on lead guitar, Richard Gibson on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Lyndon McIntyre on lead vocals. All of the lads have full time jobs, but are passionate about music. As our ages vary from 50 to 28, it means we have lots of different ideas and styles that we try to combine. However, we concentrate on the songs that we enjoy and know are favourites of the audience. The set list below reads a bit like a Beer Songs CD! If people are singing along or dancing to what we do, we get a huge kick from it!
The trio, made up of Mark, Richard and Lyndon focuses on the songs we grew up with, as well as some contemporary numbers. Favourites like The Bee Gees, Simon and Garfunkel and The Eagles, which we hope showcase a more simple style with harmonies a feature.
We've played a lot of venues, with plenty of regular clients. The Farmer's Arms Hotel, at Cabarlah, was a regular spot throughout 2008, while 2009 has seen us play often at the Toowoomba Turf Club, either for private bookings in their marquee, or in the public bar area. the most recent of these was Boxing Day.
In both 2008 and 2009, The Solitary Men have been asked to play at Toowoomba's Carnival Of Flowers.
